During my 17 years at Peter Mac I've seen a remarkable increase in our understanding of the biology of cancer and the speed at which research findings can positively impact on patients and their families.

As cancer molecular biologist, it is clear to me that understanding this disease is the most complex research task that mankind has ever faced.

However, huge advances in technology are making it possible decipher cancer and this information is making a categorical difference, even for some of the most difficult to treat cancers.

Government funding for research is always limiting, with many important ideas stalled for a lack of funds. Public donations are very important, especially as they allow us to pilot new and ambitious ideas, and to support emerging young researchers.
