We all know someone who has been diagnosed with cancer and for each of these people, there are also family and friends affected as their loved one battles the disease and its often horrid side effects. Thankfully over the years as cancer research has developed, sufferers are not necessarily getting a life sentence and their odds of surviving have greatly improved. But there is always a need for more funds to continue this vital ongoing work.
I have decided to turn my love of cycling into a fundraising project and have committed to ride the 2 day major cycling event call The Ride to Conquer Cancer which is being run over the weekend of the 27th & 28th October, 2012. Donations to this ride benefit the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre which is the only public hospital in Australia solely dedicated to cancer.
So instead of laughing at my "44 year old lycra wearing body", put your money where your mouth is and support this great cause.
