AN EPIC RIDE TO CONQUER CANCER

Support My Ride to Conquer Cancer?

Welcome to my Personal Page! The Ride to Conquer Cancer benefiting the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre, is a cycling journey throughout Victoria's scenic countryside that I?m embarking on to fight cancer. It will be a challenge in a number of ways, but with my bike, my helmet, and your generosity, a real impact will be made!
I am embarking on this challenge mainly due to the fact that my mother is currently battling this horrible disease and has been doing so for far too long. The main thing it has shown me is how tough she really is. Compared to what she has had to put up with for the last couple of years, 200 kms on a bike will be easy. So please support me on this ride.

Contribute to this history-making event with a donation. Funds raised in The Ride to Conquer Cancer will support Peter Mac, the only public hospital in Australia solely dedicated to cancer.

Thank you in advance for your help.

Training and fundraising
Hi all, The fundraising has been a fantastic success. I have reached my personal goal of $2500 and would like to thank all the wonderful donors who have help me achieve that. If there is anyone else who still wishes to donate, our team "kickin' cancer" still has members who haven't reached their goals and the aim of the team is to get everyone up to their targets, so please donate. The training is continuing well. Some wet weather has interrupted a bit, but the weekends usually see us down on beach Rd or up in the hills. So please be patient and don't run us off the road.

Training rides
Hi all.
This week we have been clocking up the k's.
Four rides during the week around town, then Saturday along the eastlink track for about 38kms, then Sunday from Edithvale rd down Nepean Hwy. Communication from the team captain needs some improvement so when the team got seperated then waiting for people who went another way and were actually in front, the ride became a bit shortened, especially as the rain started to close in. So eventually did about 40kms without getting too wet.

Training ride
Hi all,
This Sunday The 24th June, we were back to the old stopping ground starting at Edithvale Rd and doing the Nepean Hwy, south to Mt. Martha. There was only 7 of us due to some late Saturday nights, so only the keen (or silly) hit the highway. A small detour up Humphreys Rd certainly got the heart rate back up, just as I had recovered from Olivers hill. However with no rain and the new bike all went well. Lattes at Mt Martha then home. A good workout.

Progress
I have to admit to a slack attack on Sunday, after my daughter Sam's 21st on Saturday night. A great night was had by all, and it's not every day that your only daughter turns 21. Sunday was spent cleaning up recouperating so I will have to make up for the training during the week.
A new bike is on order so look out.

Training
Hi all,
Last week Karen Murphy and I joined another group of about 20 at Lilydale. We did about 40 kms from Lilydale, up many hills into the yarra valley. After a small wrong turn we ended up in the township of Gruyere. It was a beautiful fresh winters morning with the fog in the valleys, the scenery was spectacular. We emerged back onto Maroondah Hwy not too far from Healesville, turned left and headed back to Coldstream to the coffee shop. Karen and I continued back to the car and home.
Good session. Good people.
