AN EPIC RIDE TO CONQUER CANCER
|
Support My Ride to Conquer Cancer
Welcome! The Ride to Conquer Cancer benefiting the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre, is a cycling journey throughout Victoria's scenic countryside that I'm embarking on to fight cancer.
My friends and family have asked why I am doing this ride. This question has crossed my mind a couple of times when I think about 200 kilometres!!! But I believe that there are some things in life which are bigger than all of us and are worth fighting for. And this is one of them. I am no professional athlete by any stretch of the imagination. But I said why not?, I get to put my renewed love for cycling to good use and raise some funds for a most worthy cause.
My personal reason for doing this? All of us in one way or another have been touched by cancer whether directly or indirectly. A few years ago my wife's mother was diagnosed with breast cancer. The staff at Peter Mac were there to care for and provide the treatment for her. Unfortunately, we lost her. But this does not have to continue. Through the years many advancements have been made to better diagnose and treat this devastating disease. But this is not good enough. I think with funding and much needed research, we can find a cure.
This is where you come in. You can tell me to Get on my bike!!! I will, but for a fee, which you know will go to a most worthy cause. Please contribute to the history making event. This will be a challenge for me, as I have never ridden 200 kilometres in my life, but with my bike, my helmet, and your generosity and the support of the Team, I know we can make a difference.
There is STRENGTH IN NUMBERS.
Thank you in advance for your support.
