Support My Ride to Conquer Cancer?
Welcome to my Personal Page! The Ride to Conquer Cancer benefiting the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre, is a cycling journey throughout Victoria's scenic countryside that I?m embarking on to fight cancer. It will be a challenge in a number of ways, but with my bike, my helmet, and your generosity, a real impact will be made!
Contribute to this history-making event with a donation. Funds raised in The Ride to Conquer Cancer will support Peter Mac, the only public hospital in Australia solely dedicated to cancer.
This story begins with the death of my brother Barry at the age of only 67. He was a robust, vital man, and had only got married in August last year. He was then diagnosed with prostrate cancer, which expanded into brain and bone cancer. He lived for 8 months after his wedding.
I went to New Zealand to see him, and spent 12 days living with him, and made this observation....he who lives with a dying man, understands his own mortality... I then got a tatto on my forearm in memory of him. Thats the picture on my page. This is a small thing that I can do, to try and find a cure for this insidious condition. I hope that all who read this, can make a donation, to help me achieve my goal, of fundraising.
Many thanks from the bottom of my heart, and I am sure Barry would be greatful also.

After some serious training and sitting on a bike at a gym, I found it hard to stay motivated, so I made a tweetie with a wonderful lady who keeps in touch to check how the training is going.
Thank you very much Lisa Curry. You are my inspiration and motivation, and seriously hot to boot.

Ok after a small hiatus and some health issues. I have started training again but in the gym at this time. Joined for 3 months over winter to keep the mileage in the legs and also help with the weight and leg strength.
It'snot as easy as I first thought and there is alot of head stuff that you have to go through.
Am so looking forward to my raffle that I am running. It will help alot.
Will update again soon.
Cheers

Yes more about the training...Did a 50km ride the other week, and felt really good about it. Then a silly thing happened, I twisted my knee in bed and the cartilage became swollen, so there has been very little riding over the past week. But after some icing and rest, its back ok again.....Maybe have to do some smaller rides again, till it heals properly.
Hate not riding at present, am loving the exercise.

Well thought it was a good day for training, nice and sunny but not too hot, a little wind, good for the strength....off I go..................woops 6 kms in, flat.......ok I can fix this I have the tools...........get everything changed and put co2 canister into valve and turn it on.............blows the new tube...WTF.....ok now I leave bike with someone till I get back and walk the 6kms to car. Bike shoes are not made for walking in, take shoes off for a while, now blisters, cursing, sweating, after all that home, and now off to work. what a ripper........

It started in Nov last year and to date have done over 400kms on the bike. I owe a huge debt of thanks to my mate Jamie, who along with his girlfriend Kelly, who i love and adore, gave me a bike that is good enough to use and train on. Many thanks you guys. Just have to keep going....
