Support My Ride to Conquer Cancer?

Welcome to my Personal Page! The Ride to Conquer Cancer benefiting the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre, is a cycling journey throughout Victoria's scenic countryside that I'm embarking on to fight cancer. It will be a challenge in a number of ways, but with my bike, my helmet, and your generosity, a real impact will be made!

I'm sure we've all be touch by cancer in one way or another.  A friend or a relative may have been diagnosed or since even passed.  I know that I have been affected by this cruel disease a number of times, through friends and relatives.  It all started for me when my grandmother lost her life to breast cancer many years ago.  Then more recently my mother in-law lost her fight with ovarian cancer.  She was lucky enough to see our youngest child christened, some 10 years ago now.  More recently (a year ago this month) we lost a dear friend in Fiona to this nasty creature.  Even more recently we lost another friend; her battle was a very short and without warning came to an end just after Christmas.

Just the other day on one of my boys 14th birthday (May 4), we received some more bad news, this time regarding my father in-law.  He had just been diagnosed with Lung Cancer.  It was so difficult to not let this upset the party that he had been planning for so long.  Breaking the news to the other children over the weekend was also another difficult task.

Having felt such loss and grief over the years, a number of high school friends and I have banded together to form a team to tackle this monster in another way - "The Ride to Conquer Cancer benefiting the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre".
