Support My Ride to Conquer Cancer?

Welcome to my Personal Page! Thankyou to everyone who has donated and encouraged me on this journey. I have enjoyed the training and hope that I have done enough to enable me to tackle this coming weekend. The ride will be a challenge in a number of ways, but with my bike, my helmet, quality bike shorts, a good tail wind, no bike breakdowns, a positive attitude and your generosity, a real impact will be made! 

I am very grateful to the support shown to me and the rest of my team from the East Gippsland community, family and friends. I must also thank Belinda for her encouragement, not always gentle, for me to increase my fitness levels. Thanks to Bruce for teaching me to change gears and to Riviera Cycles for their never ending patience with my questions.

As the mother of four fantastic children and a supportive husband I survived a cancer diagnosis in 2006 and learnt firsthand the journey travelled by cancer survivors. I have also worked with people with a cancer diagnosis and their families and loved ones for many years, including at the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre, and have completed post graduate studies in cancer nursing. My current work is in the Day Oncology Unit at Bairnsdale Regional Health Service where I witness the bravery and personal battles that many undertake to regain health or control their disease. Many advances in treatments, side effect management, and supportive care have been made over the years and ongoing research dedicated to the fight against cancer is needed. With great encouragement from my daughter Lucy I have registered in The Ride to Conquer Cancer, purchased my first ever new bike and begun the training haul so that I can complete this new challenge.
