Support My Ride to Conquer Cancer

I've just embarked on a 12 month journey to raise funds for the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre.

In October 2012, I'll be participating in a 2-day major cycling event called "The Ride to Conquer Cancer".  I'll be cycling over 200kms that weekend with a few thousand other riders who like me, have agreed to raise at least $2,500.  All the proceeds go directly to Peter Mac, the only public hospital in Australia solely dedicated to cancer, to assist with their research into cures for cancer.

With 1 in 2 Australians diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime and an estimated 115,000 new cases of cancer diagnosed in Australia in 2011, cancer is the second leading cause of Australian deaths and affects almost 20% of the population. More than 43,600 people are expected to die from cancer in 2011 and as some of you know, it's close to home for me having lost my Dad to cancer nearly 28 years ago. That's why I'm riding. To try to do something about this horrible illness by raising funds that will help with ongoing research and ultimately medical breakthroughs in the treatment of cancer.
