Hi All,

The more official blurb about the Ride to Conquer Cancer is below but I thought I would say a few things in my own words.  As you know Ive been a cancer researcher for more than 25 years and its something that I have a great passion for.  I love doing what I do at the Peter Mac, my colleagues are great and we all work towards a common goal of trying to find ways to help people who suffer from cancer.  While we are making fantastic new discoveries and the survival rates for patients with cancer are looking better and better all the time, novel and innovative research is needed to continue to push the scientific and medical boundaries and discover new cures.  Funding is always a problem and this fundraising initiative will help facilitate new and exciting research programs and technologies.  Ive decided to help by getting off my bum and riding 200km for the cause.  I doubt that I will break any land-speed records and Im very worried about how the fluoro-lycra outfit  look will go down but its for a great cause so Im happy to incur a few sore muscles and some good-natured bagging from my mates.  Anyhow, the catch is that I need to raise $2500 to ride in the event so Im calling out to al of my friends to help in any way you can.  I realise that times are pretty tough so any contribution would be great.  I promise to ride hard for you and wont sook too much on the uphill climbs so if you can sponsor me so I can get to take part in the ride to conquer cancer that would be brilliant.

The Ride to Conquer Cancer benefiting the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre, is a cycling journey throughout Victoria's scenic countryside that I?m embarking on to fight cancer. It will be a challenge in a number of ways, but with my bike, my helmet, and your generosity, a real impact will be made!
