We are on a conquest. We have decided to team up in The Ride to Conquer Cancer benefiting the the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre. It?s a cycling journey throughout Victoria's scenic countryside in two days.


We're here because we know that cancer is too big a disease to ignore. It affects everyone, maybe you, me, our parents, kids, siblings or friends. Sadly, maybe all of the above. But by riding in this event we are doing something about it. We?re rolling closer and closer to the end of cancer. It?s an awesome triumph in a physical sense and emotionally as well.

Few know until now that in 2011 since March i have battled Thyroid Cancer. I have had one operation in October to remove a 15mm tumor from my throat and then the other half of my thyroid was completly removed in November. I now need to take a tablet to replace my thyroid for the rest of my life which is a small price to pay to live to father my 3 kids. In December on Monday the 19th (My daughters birthday i will embark on 2-3 days of radiation at The Peter Mac Centre for Cancer. This will leave me locked in a room on my own with no visitors due to my radiation levels. This procedure will hopefully remove the final 2 x 1mm cancerous cells in my throat. I will for the rest of my life have 6 monthly CT scans to ensure that if there is a return of this cancer it can be acted on quickly. All this is possible because of the Peter Mac Centre for Cancer, Australia's only dedicated cancer hospital.

I am a good result, however unfortunalty i have seen first hand plenty of people at each of my Peter Mac vists that could not tell you the same story. I have seen young boys and girls that may not see christmas this year. I have seen parents that are exhausted from this process and elder people who travel from the country to have treatment.

My committment is to ride this 200klms in October 2012 and raise 5-10K. The ride is from the city to the yarra valley on day 1 and back to the city the next day.
