AN EPIC RIDE TO CONQUER CANCER
|
Support Greg Royans Ride to Conquer Cancer?
The Ride to Conquer Cancer benefiting the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre, is a cycling journey throughout Victoria's scenic countryside that I am embarking on to fight cancer. It will be a challenge in a number of ways, but with your generosity, a real impact can be made!
As some of you know I have had a recent journey with cancer and through the incredible medical, professional and personal care from the staff of Peter Mac I have come through this far reaching disease like many who are fortunate to survive. My treatment was an intensive seven week chemo and radiation program run concurrently. This required me to be at Peter Mac daily and in the last 2 weeks of treatment, twice daily for treatment.
During that terrible time it became very apparent that there were so many people suffering and my situation paled by comparison. Cancer is a very indiscriminate disease and to particularly witness the children being treated daily, was, heart wrenching.
I have also had, an indirect association with Peter Mac for the past 8 years, as my daughter Kelly, is a radiation therapist at the hospital. Witnessing the caring culture of the staff at the hospital filled me with pride. Unfortunately she is now facing her own battle with this terrible disease and has just completed 21 weeks of Chemotherapy treatment, and then 6 weeks of daily radiation therapy. We await and hope for the best outcome.
Making a contributing to my Ride to Conquer Cancer will help support Cancer Research at Peter Mac, the only public hospital in Australia solely dedicated to cancer. This will enable them to continue their work in improving the outcome for those affected by this hideous disease. It also means gains in treatment outcomes are ultimately shared nationally and internationally so the widest community benefits.
I would like to thank all those who have already given generously in support of my ride and more importantly to the Peter McCallum cancer research. My family, friends and colleagues have been most generous. I particularly wish to mention the support from Lanteri and Partners, Myer, and Milford Cargo Barriers, The Goodguys Bayswater and A Royale Ties to name just a few. I am in awe of everybodies generosity. We can make a difference.
Thank you in advance for your support and please give generously, thank you.
Yours Sincerely,
Greg Royans.
