There are so many worthy causes that all deserve our support that, sometimes, the requests get a bit overwhelming.

I'm participating in the Ride to Conquer Cancer, which involves cycling around 200km over the weekend of 27-28 October 2012 to raise funds for the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre, because my family has recently experienced the reality of cancer first hand.

I have learned many things as a result of that experience, including that the prevalence of cancer in all its forms is so much greater than I ever imagined. I also learned how much benefit cancer patients derive from the ongoing commitment of medical professionals to the achievment excellence in research, treatment and care. Supporting these endeavours is incredibly important.

Fortunately in our case, all is going well and the prognosis is excellent. But the treatment and eventual conquering of cancer is a never-ending battle. 

I'd like to ask for your help in the fundraising effort.

As a participant, I have guaranteed to raise $2,500. Irrespective of how much support I get, I will contribute at least $1,500. All up, I want to raise at least $5,000, and I'd love to receive your help in achieving this objective.
